Topic Proposal #1 – Wrong decisions from DUO, CSN or other authorities

Topic Proposal #1

Proposed title: “What to do when you receive a wrong decision from DUO, CSN or another authority – Legal survival guide for students”

Introduction: More and more Romanian students who study abroad are facing unfair or completely wrong administrative decisions from institutions such as DUO (Netherlands), CSN (Sweden), Skatteverket (Sweden) or even universities. The lack of clear explanations, vaguely formulated legal terms or automatic refusals create confusion, frustration and sometimes even university dropout.

This topic is essential for Digital Studentopedia: it explains in a way students can understand what they can do, where to start and who they can turn to, in accessible language.

Editorial justification: The subject reflects a real and urgent need among Romanian students affected by bureaucratic abuses. The content can function as a practical resource (checklist, guide, email script, etc.). The proposal derives from dozens of documented GCRS cases, so it has real documentary and social value. It is a topic that can be developed collaboratively by GCRS student volunteers (text, graphics, interviews, video).

Proposed editorial plan:

Article (1000–1500 words) – suggested sections:

  • Introduction: “Why are decisions sometimes wrong?”
  • Real examples: DUO, CSN, universities
  • What a “decision” means and what your legal rights are
  • Steps in case of abuse: Request for explanation (email template) Appeal (terms and deadline) Legal representation (including GCRS) Complaints to higher institutions
  • When and how to contact the press, lawyers or Members of the European Parliament
  • What you must NOT do (e.g.: panic, dropout, silence)

Video / Reels / TikTok:

  • “3 things you should NOT do if you receive a refusal from DUO”
  • “What an administrative appeal means in 60 seconds”
  • “POV: I get a refusal and GCRS saves my situation”

Live Q&A: “Did you receive a refusal? We show you what to do step by step.”

Connection with the Digital Studentopedia project: This topic fits perfectly with the purpose of the project:

  • It is created by students for students
  • It contains information that can be applied immediately and avoids vague generic terms
  • It offers free resources and templates developed through practical experience
  • It is 100% justifiable as intellectual and editorial work

Status: Proposal validated for development in articles, posts, stories and live sessions
It can be submitted as original digital work in an educational project

Topic Proposal #2 – Myths about funding for Romanian students abroad

Topic Proposal #2

Proposed title: “Myths about funding for Romanian students abroad – what is true and what is not?”

Introduction: Among Romanian students who study in countries such as the Netherlands, Sweden or Germany, a lot of myths about funding are circulating: some say you can receive money without working, others that it is enough to sign any contract, and others believe that the authorities can stop funding at any time without explanations. This informational chaos makes hundreds of students lose money, make wrong decisions or even drop out of their studies.

The proposed topic aims to dismantle these myths and provide verified, clear and easy-to-understand information.

Editorial justification: The topic addresses a frequent communication and education problem among students in the diaspora. It is based on real experiences from GCRS cases. It is suitable for multiple formats: article, story, quiz, video. It creates a space for interactive dialogue: students can contribute with their own myths they have heard or lived.

Proposed editorial plan:

Article (800–1200 words) – proposed sections:

  • Introduction: “Truth vs rumor” in student life abroad
  • Top 5 myths: “If you have EU citizenship, you automatically receive money” “Volunteer contract = eligible activity” “If you lose funding, you will not get it back” “It is better not to file an appeal, because it does not work anyway” “GCRS is only for members”
  • What is true in each myth and what is false
  • What the real legislation says (with external links)
  • What steps must be followed to avoid problems

Video / Reels / TikTok:

  • “Myth or reality: can DUO take your money without reason?”
  • “Top 3 myths that can cost you your funding”
  • “Volunteering = job? Let’s clarify.”

Instagram Story (Quiz/True or False):

Myth: “If you do not have a job, they cut your funding.” – True / False → Correct: FALSE. The full context must be analysed.

Live Q&A: “What is the biggest myth you have heard about DUO, CSN or funding?”

Connection with Digital Studentopedia:

  • Encourages critical thinking and the fight against disinformation among students
  • Creates educational digital content based on real cases
  • It is relevant for all EU countries, not just the Netherlands
  • It is suitable for collaboration with other students and volunteers

Status: Valid proposal for digital educational content (text + visual)
Justifiable as editorial activity and as work to combat disinformation

Topic Proposal #3 – Volunteering in student NGOs and your CV

Topic Proposal #3

Proposed title: “Volunteering in student NGOs – a waste of time or a superpower in your CV?”

Introduction: Many students hesitate to get involved in NGOs because they are not paid or they believe it “does not matter” for their professional future. However, volunteering experience – especially in international NGOs – can be exactly the difference that gets you your first job or even a scholarship. In addition, volunteering in areas such as communication, legal, event organisation or advocacy connects you directly with reality – and sometimes also helps you save your colleagues from real situations.

This article aims to change perceptions and clearly explain why volunteering is not “free work”, but valuable work.

Editorial justification: The topic reflects an educational and social reality – many Romanian students are active in NGOs, but they do not capitalise on this properly. The proposal encourages active and civic involvement – a fundamental objective of GCRS and of this project. It is justifiable as intellectual work that promotes young people’s participation in European public life. The content can be written by active volunteers themselves – direct experience, therefore also credibility.

Proposed editorial plan:

Article (800–1000 words) – proposed sections:

  • Introduction: what people think about volunteering
  • Why students volunteer in GCRS and other NGOs
  • What you actually learn: Official writing (emails, appeals, requests) Communication with institutions (DUO, embassies, municipalities) Leadership, empathy, time management
  • Examples: what employers say about volunteering in a CV
  • How to correctly include volunteering on LinkedIn / Europass
  • How you can start today (invite to GCRS)

Video / Reels / TikTok:

  • “3 things you learn in an NGO and not at university”
  • “Your CV without volunteering vs with volunteering”
  • “A day in the life of a GCRS volunteer – in 15 seconds”

Instagram Story (Quiz / Poll):

“Do you think volunteering matters in your CV?” – Yes / No / I don’t know – Answer: YES. But it has to be explained well.

Live Q&A: “What would you like to know before becoming a volunteer?” “How do you turn NGO experiences into strengths at interviews?”

Connection with Digital Studentopedia:

  • Promotes students’ civic and professional activation
  • Educational and inspirational content, created 100% by young people
  • Materials can be created in collaboration with GCRS student volunteers from several countries

Status: Valid proposal for educational, motivational and civic content
It can be justified as research, writing, video or social media work
