The Scholars — stories and guidance for students abroad
A media project dedicated to academic mobility, international education and student life across borders.

The Scholars is an editorial project created for students and aspiring learners who wish to continue their studies abroad, offering a realistic and well-documented view of academic life in foreign countries.

The platform publishes practical guides, application advice and real stories from students already studying internationally. The focus is on clarity, usefulness and relevance for young people preparing for academic transition.

Content is developed by CampusTV contributors through research, field documentation and storytelling. Articles generally range between 800 and 1000 words and are supported by visual materials that reflect the daily reality of student life across cultures.

Beyond publishing, the project also emphasizes audience interaction, community discussions and live sessions that allow direct communication between readers, contributors and invited guests.

(From Romanian students in the diaspora for future freshmen.)

10 lessons collected from the GCRS community – curated and presented by
The Scholars team:

Slide 1 – Intro:
Are you getting ready to leave to study abroad?
We asked Romanian students in the diaspora what they wished they had known before leaving.
Their answers can save you from stress, disappointment, and wasted money.

Slide 2:
“Not everything works perfectly from the start. I realized it is okay to make mistakes and learn as you go.”

Slide 3:
“Homesickness is real. It helps me a lot to talk to other Romanians and to build a support circle.”

Slide 4:
“The education system is different. In the Netherlands you do not study for grades, but to participate actively.”

Slide 5:
“Life is expensive. Even with a scholarship, there were months when I lived on 5 euros a week.”

Slide 6:
“Language matters more than I thought. Speaking the local language helps you integrate more easily.”

Slide 7:
“It is okay not to have everything figured out from the start. I changed direction after the first year and now I am happy.”

Slide 8:
“Knowing how to manage your own time is more important than any subject learned in high school.”

Slide 9:
“Being Romanian abroad is a strength. I learned to be proud, not ashamed of my identity.”

Slide 10:
“Getting involved in projects, volunteering, GCRS – that gave me purpose and people I can rely on.”

Slide 11 – Closing + engagement:
